Brandon Guyer, Peak Performance Chair
Brandon Guyer retired in 2020 after playing MLB for 7 years.
He played college baseball at the University of Virginia from 2005-07 and is recognized as a Hall of Fame baseball player there. In 2011 Brandon made his MLB debut and hit a homerun in his first at-bat, becoming the 108th player in MLB history to do so. After 4 years in Tampa, the Rays dealt Guyer to the Cleveland Indians at the trade deadline in 2016. In his three seasons in Cleveland, the Indians were AL Central Champs three times and AL Champions in 2016. He made a name for himself as a lefty masher, slashing a career .274/.376/.449. Brandon was also nicknamed ‘La Piñata’ after leading the league multiple years in HBP’s and he retired as MLB’s “HBP King”, being the all-time leader in MLB history per plate appearance. In total Brandon had 7 years of MLB service time. In 2020, just a few months after retiring, Brandon founded Major League Mindset, where he is the head Mental Strength Coach. His sole mission is to empower athletes with a mindset that enables them to consistently show up as the best version of themselves, ON and OFF the field. In 2022, Brandon was named the Head Mental Strength Coach for the Los Angeles Angels, the University of Virginia, and the University of Houston baseball teams.
Currently he resides in Rockville, MD with his wife and 3 kids.
