Mat DeNunzio, Coaches Financial Wellness Chair

Matthew (Mat) DeNunzio is in his second year at the Darden School of Business in Charlottesville, VA, and is expected to graduate in May 2024. He holds a Master’s of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Princeton University. Mat was a member of the Varsity Baseball Team at Princeton and was awarded the Kafer Trophy his senior year for excellence in character, ability, and loyalty to Princeton baseball.

At Darden, Mat is the recipient of the Class of 1986 Peter J. Niehaus Scholarship and is involved in various extracurricular activities, including being a student interviewer, a career coach, and a member of the Golf Club Board. Following the completion of his Master’s in Business Administration, Mat will work for Prudential Financial. Prior to business school, Mat spent six years working for the Loomis Chaffee School, a prestigious New England boarding school in Windsor, CT. While at Loomis Chaffee, Mat held a variety of teaching, administrative, and coaching roles. In 2021, Mat was awarded Teacher of the Year by the Student Council and the Austin Wicke Prize by the faculty. Mat also received the Kente Stole from the student body for his work within diversity, equity, and inclusion. As a teacher, he led the design of curricula, units, and assessments for several economics courses and introduced a school-wide investing challenge. In administrative roles, he secured a $1.5M gift for an endowed instructorship and designed a school-wide financial literacy program. As a coach, he contributed to multiple championship-winning teams in football, girls’ squash, and baseball. Mat has helped numerous athletes reach the collegiate and professional ranks through his coaching roles at Loomis Chaffee and in collegiate baseball summer leagues. He has a passion for financial literacy and athletics and is excited to be a part of the H3 team.
